New! We now offer Free Children's Birthday Parties

Our Kobushi-Do students learn valuable life lessons with ongoing personal development and life changing goal setting. We teach students how to be their best in life and how to achieve goals that were once thought unobtainable. Our students gain high levels of self-confidence, self-esteem, self-respect and respect for others. They gain self-discipline and learn discipline through our very effective  children's martial arts and self-defense program.

Our students learn how to be some very good listeners and become very confident people and contribute to a better world. This helps them to achieve honor roll status at school. They also get in better physical shape and not as stressed. We alos teach them how to deal with a bully by words alone. We empower our students to excel in the martial arts and then become teachers of the martial arts.

We're a black belt and above school. In order to be the best of the best you have to put your mind in gear to achieving the goal you set for yourself. It takes hard work and perseverance and really pays off when you obtain that goal; for example, a black belt.

We can help you achieve the goal of black belt and above, instructor or even master instructor. Why are you waiting? Now is the time to start. Get in shape while making new friends, while learning how to live your life, learning how to defend yourself and learning how to set and achieve longtime goals for yourself. We teach goal achievement, this will help with non-martial arts goals as well. Please give us a call to learn more or schedule a free trial week.

Your children need this!

Children's Kobushi-Do, "The Little Warrior Way or Small Warrior Path"

Kobushi-Do is a specialty martial art for children ages 7 to 13. Kobushi-Do is a martial art created from a base of Ju-Juitsu with techniques from Ninjutsu, Aikido, Judo and Karate blended into it to create a natural flow of technique. A blended martial art system is much more effective than a single traditional martial art.

Kobushi-Do "The Little Warrior Way" or Small Warrior Path is Southern School of Martial Art's Children's Martial Art Program, also known as Jr. Casarez Manabi-Masho Ju-Jitsu.

Younger children are separated from the older children. We use one half the mat for younger children (ages 7 through 9) and the other half for older children (ages 10 through 13). We also have a black belt Assistant Instructor that assists Grandmaster Murdock during classes. Children ages 14 through 17 will be in the adult and teen class.

Starting January 2018 we'll be fully intergrating Kid Ninja, now called Children's Ninjutsu with the Kobushi-Do. Children will be able to gain belt ranks in each martial art style. Below is information about the Children' Ninjutsu.

Our Children's Ninjutsu program is based on the historical martial art of the real Ninja and has a totally different intent than what is shown in Hollywood and on TV. Hollywood and TV has made the name "Ninja" very commercial and many times very negative. The real Ninjutsu is different, it's positive and teaches positive life changing lessons.

Our Children's Ninjutsu program is based on the real art of Ninjutsu, however it's been modified just for children and certain techniques and weapons have been omitted for the safety of the training.

Children's Ninjutsu is a traditional Japanese martial art that teaches self improvement, self empowerment and self discipline. It also helps improve self confidence, self esteem and mental focus. This is also taught in the Kobushi-Do Martial Art as well.

Kid Ninja uses postures and katas based on the five elements, The student will learn Kihon happo (the eight fundamental techniques) joint locks, strikes and throws. The student will learn to move and evade in many different angles. They will learn how to use the 3ft. 4ft, and 6ft bo staff, wooden and padded swords, rope and string techniques, rubber shruriken (throwing stars) and many other types of fun weapons. There's rolling and tumbling, striking and throwing techniques. This is a fun martial art to learn and it's great exercise too.

Two to four times a year we have outdoor classes that are taught outside of the dojo. The student will get the chance to throw a real shuriken at a wood target and use a few other real weapons under the Sensei's guidance. We also have hot dog and marshmallow roast at the end of the training which is a big hit with the children.

Students have the oppritunity to get rank straight from Japan. They will be given a rank certificate from the school that they can use to get their Japan certificate if they wish.

The Kobushi-Do Leadership program is a program that helps a student develope leadership skills while learning more material and techniques than the regular Kobushi-Do class. This class is geared to getting the student to higher levels of rank to be eligible for the Black Belt Club. We'll be training Jr. leaders from this program. Students are eligible for this class at white belt. The Black Belt Club is a class that focuses on more advanced and higher level Ju-Jitsu, Ninjutsu, Aikido, Karate and Eskrima techniques not taught in the regular classes or the leadership program. To be eligible for enrollment the student must have a green belt. We'll be training students for our demo team and training assistant instructors from this group. The student will get a special patch and have the prestige of being in the black belt club. The student must maintain a good to excellent level of skill in technique and flow, must attend on a regular basis and must keep good grades in school to remain in the black belt club.

Grandmaster Murdock is a retired 33 year veteran paramedic and has lots of medical knowledge and experience with both pediatric and adult anatomy & physiology. He knows how the body moves and functions and uses that to his advantage to properly train his students. He's also has the knowledge to treat an injury or respond to an emergency at the dojo if needed.
